Each week, I will be taking a look at the cards that rose and fell the most in each of Disney Lorcana’s sets and potentially make some predictions based on chatter I am hearing and results I am seeing throughout the community.
A few rules up front:
- Price changes are based on TCGplayer Market Price, updated every hour on the hour (through an API). Market price is based on the average price of card sales. I am looking at the percentage price change from 7 days ago compared to when the article is written each week. Depending on when you are reading this/article goes live, compared to when that section was written, prices may change slightly.
- I am only looking at cards Rare or above, and with current value of close to $1 or more (or I think can reach that price). Cards under $1 can have wide market swings given easy buyouts, but given the current state of supply of cards it was hard to find cards above this value for comparison given their growth trends. For cards under $1 I only included those I feel have the potential to go higher and were not simply artificially inflated (i.e. they actually see play).
- I am looking at only non-foil pricing. Note that prices on foil staple cards are very high (for example, you can probably get close to $100 for a Beast - Tragic Hero!).
- As there are now five sets for Disney Lorcana, I will be taking a look at the market as a whole, not just cards per set, and only the cards that rose (not fell) and my predictions for the next week.

News of the Week Affecting Lorcana Finance
This was a pretty quiet week in Lorcana as we all anxiously await the Lorecast on Tuesday! What do we think will be said during this big announcement? My assumption is we will get a lot of news on the next Set (set 6) which we already know has a heavy Pirate based theme. This means it may be time to dust off some of the older Pirate based cards, if new cards that key off Pirate synergy exist in the new set. This means old copies of Captain Hook or John Silver may see more play, and cards like Piglet - Pooh Pirate Captain may be on the rise (which Piglet was already doing!)
The more important news we are waiting on is about the upcoming Continental championships and World Championships. Since tickets for the last DLC for 2024 in Seattle will occur in October, there could be up to a three month lull for North American players anxiously awaiting their Continentals, from an "Official Organized Play" perspective. Europeans will wait a similar time frame, since their last DLC is in September, with their Continentals in December. Can you play in both Continentals? Will there be additional ways to qualify including some "Last Chance Qualifer" type event on site?
We do not know answers to these questions, but this is key information that will heavily influence sales of Set Six and previous sets: If you are allowed to play in both and there are additional ways to qualify it will be positive, and if you are not, I expect the next set singles to sell much slower, without a DLC type event to attend until these larger events.
As usual, a lot of undervalued, lower value, cards are rising in overall value, so as we look at the biggest movers i will focus on ones that have an actual reason "why" they are increasing in value.

Lorcana's Biggest Risers
Banzai - Gluttonous Predator
- Current Market Price: $0.48
- 7 Day Percentage Change: +18.4%
This hyena is rising in value for two week straight, and I still believe a lot of his increase is based on just how low he started out at. It has become hard to argue with any cheap two lore characters, especially ones with these type of stats!
- Current Market Price: $30.29
- 7 Day Percentage Change: +14.1%
I think we are just waiting to see if Naveen reclaims the coveted "highest value Legendary in the set" mantle for Shimmering Skies! He has been dominant on the recent tournament scene, helping take down the first place finish at the CCS $10k with an active role in the winning deck, not a supporting role like expected!
This deck has catapulted multiple cards into the top 10 this week, but Naveen rising is pushing up the value of this deck to new heights!
Lantern
- Current Market Price: $1.07
- 7 Day Percentage Change: +24.3%
There's a name I have no heard in a long time...
Lantern returns to the top in the recent deck lists above and is proving to be a difference maker in Amber-Steel mirror matches. It allows the Naveen to be played on turn three, which means the three cost songs you play along with him are not being "under dropped" or allows for A Whole New World to be played earlier. This makes Naveen as a great substitute for playing older versions of The Queen shift lines all in one easy to play package. Lantern is the card that helps make it all happen!
Queen's Sensor Core
- Current Market Price: $0.64
- 7 Day Percentage Change: +29.7%
Amber-Steel has found numerous ways to efficiently draw extra cards, but in decks like Amber-Sapphire aggro, Queen's Sensor Core can be a key way to not only draw cards, but gain lore outside of questing! There are likely buyouts of this rare going on to drive its value up, since it has yet to yield actual results, but there are places it may shine in the future!
Mother Gothel - Unwavering Schemer
- Current Market Price: $0.96
- 7 Day Percentage Change: +28.1%
I think the debate around the Mother Gothel shift package has moved from "do you play this" to "how many of each am I playing in my lists." I think the Emerald control shells built around Clarabelle - Light on Her Hooves are able to now lean heavily into being "mostly Emerald" shells due to these Gothels, and it would not surprise me if this card had a breakout in the upcoming DLCs.
Elsa - Spirit of Winter
- Current Market Price: $14.31
- 7 Day Percentage Change: +21.3%
You really cannot find a playset of her from a verified dealer for under $17, so her rise in price will continue. This is great to see because you want cards from earlier sets to increase in value and playability when new sets drop! I have been praising Elsa for weeks now, and if she has a splash at the upcoming DLCs, expect her to shoot past $20 easily!
Cards to look out for in Lorcana
Doc - Bold Knight
- Current Market Price: $0.88
- 7 Day Percentage Change: +9.1%
Another card I cannot keep in stock (and that is saying a lot considering how many cases I opened..) at more than double this market price! Doc is proving to be a key piece of card draw in Steel mirrors, and while he may not be needed in Emerald or Amber, other decks need the cheap card draw that comes packaged in a "not embarrassing" body considering the powerful "when played" ability tacked on!
Lady Tremaine - Imperious Queen
- Current Market Price: $1.48
- 7 Day Percentage Change: +9.5%
Look if Ruby-Amethyst will not go away, certain pieces of it have to rise in value right? I see this Shift Lady Tremaine as a key cog in other decks as well, potentially as a way of playing Emerald-Amber control along with the aforementioned Mother Gothels. All of these factors collide for this Super-Rare to take a step up in long term use and value!
Prince John - Gold Lover
- Current Market Price: $0.39
- 7 Day Percentage Change: +20.5%
This former Meme card took down a 62 player event in Minnesota last weekend (played by a friend and heavy Discord supporter of The Forbidden Mountain, Micah) that was heavily based around this Prince John. Not saying it is some "meta-breaking strategy" but it at least showed this Super Rare has potential, so any time that happens to a card so low in value, there is a lot of room to grow!
Anna - Diplomatic Queen
- Current Market Price: $6.53
- 7 Day Percentage Change: -6.2%
I think Anna is very undervalued, and once players start seeing her 2/3/2 stat line as a bonus and not a hindrance (looking at you, The Muses) I think she will rise in value, significantly. If you can find playsets of her at or below the $6 mark, I would be a buyer!
Conclusion
I expect the upcoming DLCs Las Vegas and Birmingham to have a dramatic impact on the Lorcana financial world! Also pay attention to what is talked about on Tuesday's Lorecast for any new tidbits, and if it is as big as the Lorecast that announced Set 4 (the last one was kind of lackluster), expect the market to react favorably!
