Disney Lorcana Meta Tier List: Archazia’s Island – Early Metagame Report

What does the Set 7 meta look like? Here's our early report on the top decks in Archazia's Island Constructed format.

Archazia’s Island is here! Over the weekend several tournaments were held that let us glimpse the new meta with the release of the seventh expansion set for Disney: Lorcana TCG. We’ve compiled their results to bring you an early report on how the constructed metagame is shaping up to be.

Note that these events were likely to have had players bringing their old decks and are yet to adapt to what Set 7 brings. We should have a more complete understanding of the meta as more players participate in tournaments over the next few weeks.

We’ll be sure to update our Lorcana meta tier list as more results come in.

Meta Overview

Already we can see the emergence of a new frontrunner, with Sapphire Steel Items posting the most top 8 finishes and the most wins. It’s looking to be quite as dominant as initial analysis predicted, as the new Sapphire cards it gained feel completely busted.

Ruby Sapphire Pawpsicles keeps its place near the top of the meta for much the same reason. On the other hand, former top dog Amethyst Ruby Bounce Control has all but vanished compared to its previous metagame presence, with only 1 top 8 finish so far.

Amethyst Steel is the best purple deck for now, backed by the strength of a new giant snake. 3 out of 4 of the top 8 finishes posted by Amber Steel are Dwarf's Mine variants, sporting new Steel characters.

The biggest surprise and welcome addition is Amber Emerald. One of its two top 8 finishes was a combo deck similar to what we featured in our Set 7 deck previews.

Sapphire Steel Items

There's no doubt that the big winner of the early Set 7 meta is Sapphire Steel. The one new card all the top 8 Blue Steel finishers have in common is 007-159-belle-apprentice-inventor. A free turn 1 3/3 seems as busted as it sounds.

The other Sapphire cards from Archazia's Island appearing in the decks are the powerful 007-162-tamatoa-happy-as-a-clam and 007-154-scrooge-mcduck-resourceful-miser, another free character. With a third of the deck being items, D23-006-oswald-the-lucky-rabbit is way more consistent value and 002-168-maurices-workshop can draw a lot of cards. The dual-ink 007-172-lady-kluck-protective-confidant is in some lists as a big roadblock.

The other successful Sapphire Steel deck has a lot fewer items and relies on 002-142-cogsworth-grandfather-clock to protect its aggressive characters. New Steel characters 007-193-mulan-disguised-soldier, 007-198-bagheera-guardian-jaguar, and 007-199-gantu-experienced-enforcer appear in these versions.

Ruby Sapphire Pawpsicle

The biggest additions to this fan-favorite archetype from Set 7 are 007-162-tamatoa-happy-as-a-clam and 007-179-sapphire-coil, a great tool to keep your challengers healthy. While the gameplan has not changed, the deck now has a stronger midgame but fewer late game threats with the absence of 001-113-maleficent-monstrous-dragon.

Other new cards getting playtime are 007-126-belle-mechanic-extraordinaire for big late game lore gain, 007-154-scrooge-mcduck-resourceful-miser for extra card draw, and 007-150-unconventional-tool to make items cheaper.

Amethyst Steel Aggro

Amethyst Steel Aggro is largely unchanged from Set 6 versions except for the notable appearance of 007-057-giant-cobra-ghostly-serpent. Multiple copies of 006-040-the-white-rose-jewel-of-the-garden, 005-068-the-library-a-gift-for-belle, and 001-064-friends-on-the-other-side are more common. 007-199-gantu-experienced-enforcer is also worth a consideration for extra disruption.

Overall, the deck looks much faster with only a couple of 5-cost characters at the most, with lots of card draw so it doesn't easily run out of gas.

007-184-bolt-headstrong-dog, 007-021-penny-bolts-person, and 007-004-bolt-superdog are in the winning decklist below, the only non Sapphire Steel deck to finish in first place. Combined with characters that heal like 001-018-rapunzel-gifted-with-healing, the superdog can gain a lot of lore fast.

Final Thoughts

It feels like we've barely touched on what Archazia's Island has to offer. We'd be happy to see a lot more spicy builds in the coming weeks as players get to play with the new cards more.

What are you bringing to your next LGS event? Stay tuned for more Set 7 decks next time.
