Card Evaluations

As mentioned, since these are all starter deck cards, some are just basic vanillas or only slightly above that. But some are possibly playable in meta decks.

  • Heihei is a 2-cost 3/2 with a small ability that is only relevant in location decks. Lore removal has not been very useful so far, at least in 1v1 games, so this Heihei probably isn't going to make the cut, even though he does synergize with Maui - Winged Demigod.
  • Moana is an Evasive card, which you usually want in your aggro decks, but with only 1 lore on a 4-cost character she's not a good aggro card.
  • Simba, though, is a great aggro card. He's Pinocchio - Star Attraction for Ruby. Amethyst/Ruby aggro decks may be able to go even faster now.
  • Webby is a 3-cost 3/4 in Ruby. Lots of other colors have this same card and it doesn't see any play there and won't here.
  • Lucky is a powerful card for the 101 Dalmation deck. You can exert him to draw up to 3 cards, which is obviously very strong. But you have to build your deck in such a way that you have a lot of 2-cost or less characters. That works well in the puppy deck but could also work in any low-to-the-ground aggro deck. Lucky also is a finisher for those decks, as once you have a large board, you can quest with him and buff all your other characters by one Lore. At 3 Willpower, Lucky will be a priority target for removal for your opponent and does die to a lot of stuff. But he still is strong enough that he just may end up being an important card for the puppy deck, or really any aggro deck.
  • Rolly is a slight step above a vanilla card; a french vanilla card, if you will. Support is a weak keyword and his stats are weak for a 3-drop, so he's not going to see any play.
  • Wildcat is the first item removal we have seen outside of Steel and Sapphire. It's a bit slower than the item removal in those colors though, since you have to wait a turn after playing him before you can use his Disassemble ability. It's also quite telegraphed to your opponent. For those reasons, I think he's a relatively weak tech card, but in an item-heavy meta, he may still see play.
